These 6 ways will help you to make the remote working fruitful!

During this pandemic, the complete nation is under lockdown for our betterment. However, fortunately, the tech industry is able to work remotely. It is the only way when we all can follow the government guidelines, keep social distance and make our work going on without a break!

We are experiencing for the first time when the entire company is working remotely. This is the time when we can prove ourselves, our work, our team, and make our company strong.

Just like we at SalesHandy are doing! No matter what comes up in our way, we always find a way to keep things going. We make sure to maintain and continue the basic but utmost requirements which do not let anything affect our productivity and our culture.

Do you want to know how?

Well, we thought to share some of our internal processes and activities which may help your company. If I say about us, it helps us to not only make the work process organized but also to maintain the same bond between our Ikigai Family.

Let’s begin with those 6 interesting ways:

1. Team meetings

  • The first thing we do without fail is a meeting (video meet if possible) with our teammates. Just like engineers have their daily scrum, we follow the same but for all the teams.
  • It helps us to be on the same page and gives us an update on who is working on what. So when we have any doubt or roadblock, we are straight away able to ask the correct guy for help.
  • It increases transparency and team bonding. Reduces confusion and doubts.

2. Real-time updates

  • Giving consistently task updates in the project management tool help us to understand where we are standing right now, which task is completed how much, where we are stuck, how much more time it will take, and according to which next planning can be started. In the end, it makes the process go on.
  • The most interesting and powerful usage of this, the team doesn’t even have to take a meeting. They end up having an asynchronous discussion with real-time updates. It saves a lot more time.

3. Due Dates boosts productivity

  • Due dates are something which we follow rigidly. Having due dates makes us more sincere and productive for our work. It helps us to prioritize and plan our day/week accordingly.
  • To ensure that we complete our work. It’s easy to delay or to forget a task that has no agreed endpoint. Deadlines help to avoid this.
  • To encourage a smooth flow of work. Deadlines help us to collaborate toward achieving a shared goal, and to keep complex, multistage projects on track.
  • To set expectations. Deadlines make clear what we’re expected to deliver and when. This means that we can take control of our work, free of confusion.

Okay!

Enough about the work process!

What about the culture? The engagement? The fun?

Well, building a healthy, creative, and productive culture is always important to us. And to make sure it does not get affected, we have started:

4. Creating a sense of togetherness

  • We have a feature of automatic checkin in our project management tool “Basecamp”. We have set some of the interesting questions on a weekly basis which keeps our members engaged.

Let me give you some of the examples. You may explore the fun level by reviewing the responses below:

a) Seen any good movies lately?

In the time when Netflix, Hotstar and Amazon prime are available, almost all team members are watching movies or web series. This is the question that everyone can answer. It will definitely add movies/series on your list to watch out next after seeing the responses.

b) What’s something that you recently learned or discovered? Show & Tell!

Learning can be from anywhere. We have not kept it limited to work. Anyone can share anything. Whether it’s related to the stock market, discovering new shortcuts in your system, a message learned from any book or movie.

It will definitely help to increase your knowledge.

c) How was your weekend?

This is exciting! Knowing other people’s weekend life, their routine, their tasks. It can be anything, playing games, cooking, reading, etc. Sharing experiences helps us to know more about each other. With this question, people will open up and share freely.

d) Read any good books lately?

This is something that not only helps to improve knowledge but also inspires us to read books (to one who doesn’t :p). Here, members share about the book with its summary. Even non-readers have started reading the books now!

The above response is given byPiyush(co-founder). He is always ready to share the information to help us grow.

Just likeDhruv(co-founder). He loves experimenting and trying new things. Any simple change can bring a lot more fun! He started writing some words in the Hindi language. See, how interesting it looks!

6. Company-wide open communication

  • A company-wide chatting group should always be there. It breaks the limitation of teams. Everyone will be able to chat/wish/congratulate each other.
  • It maintains the bond within all of us.

And that’s all we have! This is our way to maintain a friendly and engaging remote work environment. Stress-free with no micro-management.

Thank you for reading. We hope you found it useful.

I am sure your company also has some unique and interesting ways to stay on track. Let us know by commenting below and help each other to grow more.
